Messenger: Pastor James A. Donald
Sermon Title: "Believe God for Your Victory!!!"
Scriptural Background:
1 John 5:1-5
Responsive reading: 1 John 4:1-4 (ESV)

Sermon reflection:
Practically everyone we know, claims he/she knows something about God, also, claims a legitimate relationship with God. We find the Muslims, Buddhists, Agnostics, Hindus, Alt-right and the Ku-Klux-Klan, all claim some kind of belief in God, according to the leanings of their understanding. However, we as the called out of God, born again Christians, signed, sealed and delivered from Satan's control by the blood of Jesus, must as Jesus commands us,
(Matthew 28:19-20 ESV)  Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,  (20)  teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.

Sermon Outline:
  1. Believe Who Jesus is (v.1)
  2. 2. Obey and Live God's Commandments (vv.2-3
  3. God Has Already Won Your Victory (v.4)

Sunday September 23, 2018

Messenger: Pastor James A. Donald
Sermon Title: "Seek Jesus for the Right Reason(s)"
Scriptural Background: John 6:25-29
Responsive reading: Proverbs 8:17-21

Sermon reflection:
There seems to be an inclination among Christians and churchgoers to show up to God's houses of worship for reasons many times other than God worship. Some have been led and influenced by false professors of God's Word, into believing in a name it and claim it type of religion. That is, just showing up every Sunday, having not studied at weekly Bible study, never attending Sunday school, and no personal daily devotion. However, just showing up praising pulpit profiteers, not God, duped into believing they will become wealthy by honoring those who have a form of godliness, according to Paul, while having  no real understanding of who God really is. This position however is contrary to what Jesus says in these words: (Matthew 6:33 KJV)  But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Printed scripture text:
(John 6:25-29 NIV)  When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, "Rabbi, when did you get here?"  (26)  Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill.  (27)  Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval."  (28)  Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?"  (29)  Jesus answered, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
